When to Visit Córdoba

Córdoba sits in the Guadalquivir river valley, a location that gives it a rather distinctive inland climate. The city experiences what feels like two primary seasons: a long, intensely dry summer and a shorter, milder winter with most of its rainfall. The transitional periods of spring and autumn tend to be brief and quite variable. You'll notice the humidity level stays fairly consistent year-round, which adds a certain weight to both the summer heat and the winter chill. Interestingly, for whatever reason, March and November often bring the heaviest bouts of rain, while the summer months from June through August are almost completely rainless. This pattern creates a dramatic shift in the feel of Córdoba. The summer heat is notorious, often described as some of the most intense in Europe, where daytime temperatures regularly soar. It's the kind of dry, baking heat that radiates from the stone of the Mezquita and the narrow, whitewashed streets of the Judería. Conversely, the winter can be deceptively cold, at night, with that persistent humidity making the chill seep in. Spring and fall are therefore the sweet spots, offering warm days and generally pleasant conditions for being out and about, though you'll get the occasional surprise storm.
