Officers want a valid passport, proof you can pay your way, and a ticket out. Keep your hotel address and return flight on your phone. They rarely ask. Yet it saves minutes. Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA/eVisa)

From 2025, visa-free travelers need ETIAS approval before boarding.

These nationalities must secure a Schengen visa from a Spanish consulate before travel.

How to Apply: Apply at Spain's embassy or consulate where you live. Submit the form, photos, insurance, flights, hotel, and bank statements. Processing takes 15 calendar days or more.

Nationals on this list need a Spain-specific visa if Córdoba is their main stop or first Schengen landing.

Immigration happens at your first Schengen airport. For Córdoba, that is usually Málaga-Costa del Sol or Madrid-Barajas.

Customs & Duty-Free

Spain enforces EU-wide customs rules when you arrive from outside the union.

Alcohol
1 liter spirits over 22 %, or 2 liters fortified or sparkling wine, plus 4 liters still wine and 16 liters beer.
You must be 18 or older to import alcohol.
Tobacco
200 cigarettes, OR 100 cigarillos, OR 50 cigars, OR 250g of smoking tobacco.

Currency
10,000 euros or equivalent.
Declare cash or monetary instruments totaling 10,000 euros or more on entry or exit.
Gifts/Goods
Other goods up to a total value of 430 euros for air travelers.
Allowances are for personal use, not resale. Limits drop for travelers under 15.

  • Counterfeit goods - illegal under intellectual property laws
  • Illegal narcotics and drugs - strictly prohibited
  • Protected animal and plant species (CITES) - without proper permits
  • Offensive weapons and certain types of knives - without authorization

Restricted Items

  • Carry a doctor's prescription for any controlled medication.
  • Plants, flowers, fruits, vegetables - may require phytosanitary certificates
  • Meat, milk, and their products - generally restricted from non-EU countries

Health Requirements

No vaccination certificates are required for Spain or Córdoba.

  • Keep routine shots current. Hepatitis An and B are sometimes advised.

Health Insurance

Insurance is smart for visa-free travelers. It is mandatory for Schengen visa holders. Córdoba's hospitals are excellent, yet non-EU visitors pay full price.

Current Health Requirements: Early 2025: no COVID vaccine, test, or locator form needed for Spain. Check Spain's Ministry of Health before departure.

Extended Stays

If you wish to stay in Córdoba for longer than 90 days, you must apply for a long-stay visa or residence permit from a Spanish consulate in your home country before you travel. You cannot change a tourist visa into a residence permit after arriving. No exceptions.
